As Director of Content Marketing, Emily uses content to advance Cake & Arrow’s human-centered values, research-driven design work, and deep expertise in insurance and financial services. Whether it’s a tweet, a blog post, or a white paper, Emily strives to bring rigor and insight to all of our content. She is a thoughtful writer, editor and curator of content who values research, thoughtful discussion, and rallying people around ideas.
Emily began her career in journalism, where she developed a knack for storytelling, and a keen interest in better understanding the people and the world around her, writing human interest stories for local papers and magazines in San Diego. Before transitioning into marketing, Emily spent several years as a high school English teacher in Brooklyn, sharing her love of language, ideas, and storytelling with her students. She soon found a way to funnel her passion for education and writing into a successful career as a marketer, working for several years in the EdTech industry before finding her way to Cake & Arrow. Emily holds a BA in Journalism and an MA in English Literature.
Outside of work Emily enjoys reading novels, talking about ideas with friends, and walking around Brooklyn with her husband, kids, and firstborn dog-son XaviBaby. Since becoming a mother to a human, Emily has blossomed into a prolific song lyricist, writing hundreds of lyrics to the tune of Frère Jacques, which she performs nightly for her two young children. They’re huge fans.
